Master Workshop AWARENESS:
Stakeholdering: Dealing planfully with both the rational and non-rational side of stakeholders.
Solid empirical research shows that no more than 5% of our social behaviour is based on conscious decision making about what we do. Most of the time we run on ‘automatic pilot’. Therefore, dealing with stakeholders realistically encompasses dealing with their non-rational side.
Nobel prize winners in Economy Daniel Kahneman and more recently Richard Thaler unravelled the laws that govern non-rational decision making and spelled out interventions that allow us to build on those dynamics to foster stakeholder alignment.
We will explore some of these promising paths as they apply to stakeholder management, as we described them in my book ‘Stakeholdering. Diplomatic skills for successful projects.’

Biography
MA from the Leuven University and PhD from the University of Utrecht. After some years as a researcher at the universities of Leuven and Antwerp, he started his own consultancy firm focusing on cultural change of large organizations, on influencing skills and on self-management. He published several books, both in Dutch and in English on the topics of Impact, Stakeholder management and Managerial courage. His missions took him to the five continents working for multinational companies
